Artist's Comments

So, another fanart. This time it's Hinata Hyuga from Naruto. Theoretically this goes with my Sakura image and eventually I'll do one for Ino Yamanaka as well.

I'm so totally not satisfied with the hair because it's like I completely forgot how to do it for some reason. I'm not sure if it's because of the size, since these are much larger than a manga page coloring and I have no problems with those. But the hair is just giving me fits. After a while though, I just have to say "STOP!" and leave it be.

Hinata, from Naruto (c) Masashi Kishimoto
Time: maybe 5-6 hours.
Tools: Photoshop 7.0, Wacom tablet.

I think it's a cool picture, Rhyssa! I think what it is about the hair is that it's a little chunky at the ends. I think if you wisped it out a bit more you'd probably be a lot happier with it.

I could be completely off my rocker, though, because it's 4:21am and I have no freakin' clue why I'm still up...other than I must be insane. *L*

No, you're right - the hair is chunky and overall it annoys me. I think I'm going to redo the picture totally. Or rather, make a copy and go back in to refine some of the things that bug me the most - the hair, the sheer lack of highlights on the skin, the clumpiness of the skin shading for that matter (it's not very smooth), stuff like that. I like how the kimono turned out, even though it's a rather bright shade of yellow, but I may make the background a bit lighter instead of it being so dark.

See? The easy way to have a make-over without paying for haircoloring - I'm a genius!

Thanks again for the terrific stock photos though, those make my life much, much easier when I need good references. :worship:
