Genma from Naruto wearing a kimono for disguise. He's not very happy about it.
I got the idea from a fanfic called Duplicity by BeautifulSilverSilence over on Fanfiction.net (story link -> [link]). In chapter 5, she describes the team of Kakashi, Genma, Raido and Asuma needing to go undercover for a mission, and Genma ends up having to dress in a kimono. I loved the idea and had to draw it, so here we are.
The background is a complete copout of genericness (and even worse, generic Photoshop brushes), but I just wanted the picture done. I love, LOVE! how the kimono turned out, the feet and geta aren't bad, but oh man, do I need to work on my hair and faces/skin tones! Those are probably my weakest points so far.

Oh my goodness. I am in LOVE. You draw so beautifully, I can't believe that this came from my story! I mean, this is THE Genma from the story, you completely captured him. I am in shock. You are freakin' amazing. I love this, thank you so much! I'm putting a link to this in my profile and in the next chapter. Wow, just asjklfluhgnkfnld!
I'm glad you like it! I had some fun doing the research and finding the samples to use. I was worried it didn't really look like Genma though, but I guess it did turn out fine after all.
Now here's where I beg for the next chapter of Duplicity (not to see my name or anything, but because I want to know what's happening on their mission!). Write faster! *says the woman who has like 7 fics in progress and needs to start finishing them!*
It SO looks like Genma (he turns out to be much finer a girl than I originally thought). Hmm, I might have to put him in a kimono again in another fic lol. He has the most adorable pout.
And yes, just for that I'll get the next chapter out as soon as possible. The last chapter was a complete fluke, the chapter from hell as I believe I named it. Currently I don't know what my theme for the next chapter is going to be, but I'm thinking of doing something different...hmm, but what?
I had some fun looking through reference images to find a good one of him pouting like that. I didn't want completely angry, and when I saw this expression I knew it was perfect! He just looks so put out, haha!
"Dammit! Why do I have to wear the kimono this time?! Why can't Asuma do it?"
"You mean besides the fact that Asuma has a beard?"
Oh yeah, references ftw. I researched kimonos and images of Genma to make sure I got things right. The kimono colors and design is all mine, but the actual look of it was referenced. Nothing of Genma without his hitai-ate, so I had to make that part up, but it wasn't too hard.

I found the Genma one I used in the Leaf-Nin album, on page 13 actually [link] I tend to just look through the different pages to see if I find something that interests me mostly.
