Fullmetal Alchemist - Edward Elric and Winry Rockbell, from chapter 108, page 104, panel 3.

I did this for the Manga Coloring Contest #23 over on the One Manga Forums. I haven't done anything for a long while and the contest theme "romance" just made me immediately think of Ed and Winry.

I'm actually rather proud of how the hair turned out for both characters. It's a rather simple panel so the hair is one of the most noticeable things and I've been horrible in the past. This time I took my time and I think the technique I used shows a huge improvement over how I've done hair in the past. I've also selectively used some textures in a few places (and to cheat on the background) which is another step forward for me. All-in-all, I'm very pleased at how this panel turned out.

Time : about 3 hours total
Tools : Photoshop CS5, Wacom tablet, random textures.
Fullmetal Alchemist and characters are (c) Hiromu Arakawa.
Original lineart by Hiromu Arakawa, colors by me.

Ed & Winry. <3 Words can't even describe how much I love and adore this couple. The mangaka believes in this pairing, too, and that's such a good feeling. :)

Yep, she really made the pairing completely believable, too! I mean, it was pretty obvious they were going to eventually end up together (at least to me the more I read the manga) but how she actually brought them together was perfect!
